Rust (2015) is a piece of work formed through studying and analysing a novel, then placing it to one side and photographing for a multiple days straight without referring back. This personal performance explores the way language, particularly that from literature, can influence our outwardly perceptions and the changes that occur, unconsciously or not, in subject matter and composition as a consequence of the novel. The final piece does not indicate towards the original novel analysed, except for a single worded title that has my own association to the story, and thus I have given a space open for interpretation.
