Rust (2015) is a piece of work formed through the study and analysis of a well-known novel, which, after completion, it is placed aside and for multiple days straight a camera is picked up instead, without referring back to the original novel. This personal performance explores the way language, particularly that from literature, can influence our outwardly perceptions. Changes occur, whether unconsciously or not, in subject matter, tone and composition as a consequence of the novel. The final piece does not indicate towards the original novel analysed, except for the single worded title that has my own association to the story. The final element is the space given for the viewer's own interpretation.
